This elixir features carefully wildcrafted California Poppy from my friend’s garden in Hyampom, California, Peach leaf and fruit from a friend’s orchard in Hood River, Oregon, Lavender from a friend’s garden in Nevada City, California, Pedicularis from underneath the Manzanitas in early March in Hyampom, California, Passionflower flowers and leaf that was growing on the trees where my friend lives on the island of Kaua’i, honey from a beekeeper I know in Trinity county, California, and plain old (not gluten-free) vodka.
The biggest flavors that come out of this ‘chill - out’ formula is the complex floral bitterness of the variety of Lavender I harvested, and the nuttiness of the Pedicularis contained within, a hint of sweet honey and the slightest bit of peachy fruit notes.
I use these herbs together when I need a major chill moment:
whether feeling the anxiousness of a decision
or a past trauma showing its shadows or feeling the held body tension of stress.
Or perhaps, the combination of both that can loop: the anxiousness creating tension which creates anxiousness and worry. Somewhere in the loop is room for a break, for a re-wiring or at least some temporary relief.
Sometimes we hold things in our bodies to protect ourselves, and we need to hold.
Letting go or relaxing feels like too much.
Other times, we need a little kick to let go, and a tincture like this is a little kick, not too much, but enough to maybe see things from a different perspective.
